Universal Studios Orlando

After  6 days exploring Disney World we clearly hadn't had enough so we spent 2 days at Universal Studios as well.  No wonder our feet were sore at the end of it.  Universal is actually 2 theme parks right next to each other, Islands of Adventure and Universal Studios.  Islands focuses more on rides and entertainment while Studios is more like Movieworld and is centred around movies, special effects etc...  We definitely preferred Islands of Adventure and to be honest, wouldn't bother going back to Studios if we ever visited again. Luckily I'd bought a 2 park pass which meant we could move freely between the 2 parks so when we'd had enough of Studios we went back to Islands and revisited our favourite rides.

One of my favourite areas in Islands was Seuss Landing.  If you're a fan of Dr Seuss and grew up with Green Eggs and Ham, One Fish Two Fish, Cat in the Hat and Horton Hears a Who, then this is the place for you.  From amazing scenes and Seussical landscapes to really fun rides, it was an amazing environment.

Max has already written a post about the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, so check out what he thought of it.

Jemima had a wrap put in her hair just for fun.  It looks gorgeous and she thinks she's pretty cool with it. I coudn't get over how quickly the girl's fingers worked while she was wrapping a section of Mima's hair.

Florida is hot, damned hot, and all theme parks cater for cooling off.  There are fans and water sprayers everywhere and quite a few rides involve a lot of water. Needless to say Drew and the kids got very very wet

It didn't help that the kids also found the water cannons in the Jurassic Park playground.  They had a ball squirting each other with water cannons.

Both Max and Jemima were a bit to scared of this ride to try it out. I don't really blame them.  You should have heard the screams coming from the people who were on it!

One area of the park was dedicated to old school cartoon characters.  Some of them were ones we grew up with like Rocky and Bullwinkle and others were ones we weren't so familiar with.  It was still a fun place to explore.

The Spiderman ride was a fantastic 3D robotic arm ride that combined physical effects and 3D video effects seamlessly to create am awesome ride that kept us going back for more. You really felt like you were in the middle of an epic Spiderman adventure.

The Green Goblin had escaped - both Max and Jemima delayed him so that Spiderman could catch him.

The kids didn't meet the height requirement for the Hulk rollercoaster and to be honest, that gave Drew a 'get out of jail' card as he was feeling a bit nervous about this one.  There was never a question of me going on it, so I was already in the clear thank goodness!

Universal Studios focussed more on movie making as I said, not so much on the rides. The kids still had fun though, but we were happy to move on to Islands again.

Jemima found what she was looking for while Max showed off his fishing skills.

Both kids enjoyed the Woody rollercoaster, but I think Max was more into it than Jemima.  He's such a  daredevil, any opportunity to go fast with his hands in the air and he's a happy boy.  Jemima has a thing for spinning so whenever she finds a ride, like Teacups, then she's the first in the queue.

Curious George's playground - lots of water play and a terrific ball room with ball cannons, vacuums and ball contraptions.
