After the Museum of Childhood, we figured we would get some lunch and find something else to do. We ended up going to have a look at Her Majesties Yacht (HMY) Britannia which is permanently moored in Edinburgh after she was decommissioned in 1997.
The bridge and captains chair.
The on board garage which was specially designed to fit the Royal Rolls Royce (sans bumper bars) or the Royal Land Rover depending on where the Britannia was headed.
The Sun Deckand Sun room - part of the ship that the Royals would use.
HRH Queen Elizabeth's room - interestingly a single bed and joined to...
Prince Phillip's room, also with a single bed. I thought it was odd they they didn't share a bedroom.
Across the ship was the Honeymoon suite, which was used by Price Charles and Lady Dianna on their honeymoon, but also by other esteemed guests when needed.
As part of the ship where they prepare for Royal dinners, this is the China room and ...
this is the silverware room.
The Grand dining room and annex.
The stern of the ship - here you can see the new addition to the ship (which was an open covered deck, now glassed in) which is now a tea room and used for private functions. I kept thinking, 'What a great place to have a work Christmas party!'
